In January 2023, I turned my passion for fitness and self-defense into the Kickboxing Club, a space where I could share this enthusiasm and create a supportive environment for others. What began as a small gathering of a few friends rapidly expanded into a dedicated group of 18 members, each with their unique motivations and goals but united by a common drive to push their physical and mental boundaries. We focused on much more than just mastering the technical skills of punches, kicks, and combinations; we embraced the deeper values of kickboxing—discipline, resilience, and respect for oneself and others. Through regular, rigorous training sessions, our members developed not only strength and agility but also mental fortitude and self-confidence. The club became a strong community, where encouragement, shared goals, and camaraderie fueled each session, helping us grow individually and as a team.

As Manager, one of my proudest achievements was organizing our Warrior’s Arena, a quarterly competition where members got a taste of real-world combat experience. It wasn’t just about winning; it was about testing ourselves, finding our weaknesses, and learning to grow stronger both mentally and physically. We created an electrifying yet respectful atmosphere where each match emphasized resilience and self-improvement. Members trained hard, supporting each other leading up to the event, which forged a unique bond within the club. The Warrior’s Arena soon became our cornerstone, uniting us through shared growth, lessons from both victory and defeat, and a powerful camaraderie built on pushing our boundaries together

Beyond the gym, I saw an opportunity to expand our club’s impact by partnering with other clubs to approach and intergrate training content about home workout routines encouraging healthy life styles for middle school students, aged 11 and up. Our goal was to make fitness accessible and fun, encouraging young students to stay active from home and fostering a lifelong love for exercise. Each session blended kickboxing basics with general fitness, making it engaging and challenging yet manageable for beginners. This initiative brought new purpose to the Kickboxing Club, reaching beyond our members to instill values of health, resilience, and discipline in younger generations. The enthusiastic feedback from students and parents confirmed the positive influence of our efforts, underscoring the lasting impact fitness can have on the lives of young people.

My father often says that we take a family photo each year so that, as we grow up, we can look back and see how we’ve gradually changed over the years - and how my parents have grown older too. Every Lunar New Year, we celebrate at my paternal grandparents’ home, where my great-grandparents, who are over 90 years old, still live. Their greatest joy is simply having all the children and grandchildren gather together for the holidays. There is a tradition in my paternal hometown of limiting photos of the elders to wish them long life, but each New Year, my family captures a single photo together, marking the passage of time as a family of five.

Over the years, photography grew into more than a family ritual for me - it became a way to preserve memories, emotions, and thoughts. Alongside my kickboxing journey, my love for photography flourished, transforming from a simple hobby into a powerful tool to capture the intensity and spirit of the club. Photography became a way to document the focus and discipline each member brought to the ring, freezing raw, unfiltered moments: the tension in a fighter’s stance, the energy of a punch mid-air, or the quiet reflection between rounds. These images went beyond recording progress; they conveyed the club's unique energy and even inspired others to join.

Kickboxing and photography have shaped me into someone who appreciates both the art of the fight and the beauty of capturing it. Together, they’ve taught me the importance of balance - between action and reflection, power and patience, physicality and creativity. Through each frame, I’ve found a way to share stories of growth, resilience, and passion.
